SO2-AIR

Sulfur Dioxide Monitor aboard Aircraft

Baseline VAP, Baseline Instrument

The sulfur dioxide analyzer measures sulfur dioxide based on absorbance of ultraviolet (UV) light at one wavelength by SO2 molecules that then decay to a lower energy state by emitting UV light at a longer wavelength. The instrument sampled from a trace gas inlet on the starboard side of the fuselage.
